Large dog breeds that don’t shed


In this world no one hate dogs and cat. Some dog owners are allergic to dog hairs, but they also want to live with their dog. All the breeds shed in some amount, but there are some breeds that shed very low.


Here is a list of large do breeds that don’t shed and such dogs are called hypoallergenic dogs.

1.Airedale Terrier

Airedale Terrier

It is a strong but a stubborn dog breed with good scenting and hunting skills. Among the Terriers, Airedale is the most playful and adventurous dog. It needs daily mental and physical exercise or long walk to make it a good house dog.


Other names for this breed are Waterside Terrier, Bingley Terrier, Irish Red Terrier and also known as King of Terriers.

Very intelligent and obedient breed, hence easy to train. Friendly with child, cats, dogs and other pets. The coat is hard, dense and wiry; it lies straight and close, with some hair crinkling or waving. Grooming should be performed often to keep it in shape.

2. Black Russian Terrier

This is a large-boned, strong muscled guard and military dog. Black Russian Terrier is a reliable, intelligent, courageous breed with strong protective instincts. Its outer coat is waterproof while the inner coat insulates the dog from the cold. It is one of the large dog breeds that don’t shed.

They are gentle and playful with children and other pets, but they may not be happy with strangers or other dominant dogs.

This breed is very close to humans and they always want to be very close to their owners. That’s why they are easy to train because they always try to make their owner happy. Very obedient and quick learner if trained with love and care.

It has a single coat, either curly or wavy. This dog is able to work in water and also out of water because it’s strong and well-muscled.


Very intelligent and obeying to its master, and are quick learners. Easy to train and fond of hard work. A small yard is sufficient for this breed because they are less active indoors and need some space to remain active. Very playful, energetic and suitable for kids.


The Portuguese water dog loves to swim and need daily mental and physical exercises.

4. Belgian Malinois

This breed demands regular physical and mental stimulation. Very alert, smart and serious breed with intelligent and questioning expression. It has a short and hard coat, with a dense undercoat. It is a working dog.


Belgian Malinois belongs to herding dog breed group. This breed is friendly with cats, dogs and other breeds, and very suitable for kids.


Cool climate is preferred by this breed.

This dog always listens to the orders and obey them. Very obedient, fast learner and easy to train. Very aggressive and protective towards any stranger or harm.

Schnauzer has three separate breeds; giant, standard and miniature. Giant Schanuzer is larger and more powerful among those three breeds. It is not very much friendly with kids, cats, dogs and other friends. Very protective, friendly and playful with its family and reserved with strangers.


This breed is very aggressive and acts fearlessly towards any intrusion or harm.

This breed is very playful, caring, energetic and affectionate around the kids. No exercise is needed as long as they get their daily walk. Poodle like water and loves to go for a walk or play. Training is a simple process for them, they are quick learners. Very obedient and good listeners.


Poodle is among those dogs that shed a negligible amount.

This breed is basically from the desert, the Saluki is one of the fastest breeds in the world. They have silky fur and sheds very little.


Saluki belongs to the Hound and Sighthounds & Pariahs breed groups. They are reserved and aloof with the strangers. But this breed is very friendly and playful with kids, cats, dogs and other pets.


Never unleash Saluki in open places, it will go on a long run or hunt and may never return. When they are chasing something they usually ignore their owner’s calls. But they also need a plenty of exercise. Saluki is very difficult to train and will never be completely obedient to its master.

8. Komondor

The Komondor is a large Hungarian livestock guardian dog. It is a fearless dog with double coat; the outer coat is wavy or curly. Mainly they are recognized by their corded coats and they don’t shed. Komondor is naturally aggressive towards strangers, which makes it best guard dog.


Komondor can live in an urban environment but it can do its best in a clean country environment, because it needs extensive exercise on a daily basis.


This breed is very friendly with other pets, but not a good option to leave your kid in isolation with Komondor. It is very shy and aggressive towards strangers.


Komondor is one of the smartest dog breeds in the world. They need some firm and consistent training. Obedience training is a must thing.

It belongs to herding dog breed. It has very gentle, loyal, intelligent, rational and protective temperament. Very friendly towards kids, dogs, cats and other pets. It has a fine under coat and a harsh, rough outer coat.
Very easy to train as it’s an intelligent as well as an obedient breed.

Another water dog breed joining the list of large dog breeds that don’t shed.Irish Water Spaniel belongs to Sporting and Gun dogs breeds. Irish Water Spaniel is very active and alert.


It is very affectionate, Playful and energetic with kids. As the name shows; they love swimming. Irish water Spaniel is also friendly with other pets. This breed is very intelligent and obedient, but must be trained at a young age.


Other names for this breed Whiptail, Shannon Spaniel, Rat Tail Spaniel and Bog Dog.
